| How long has H.E.A.T existed? |
H.E.A.T was founded in January 2007 through a merger of two bands, Trading Fate and Dream. |
| Who are the band members? |
Eric Rivers and Dave Dalone - guitars, Jimmy Jay - bass guitar, Crash - drums, Jona Tee - keyboards and Erik Grönwall - lead vocals. |
| Where do you guys come from? |
We have our base camp and roots in Upplands Väsby between Arlanda airport and Stockholm city in Sweden. This is where most of us live, here we also have our rehearsal studio and we recorded our first album in Väsby. |
| Upplands Väsby sounds familiar when talking about rock n roll? |
Yes, Europe, one of the most famous Swedish bands (The Final countdown) is from Upplands Väsby. We are proud of the connection, since Europe are role models for us. We have always loved their music, great songs, amazing musicians. However, the nice dudes in Europe are these days more thin haired then we are, to be honest, haha… |
| What influences do you have? |
It is easier to mention what influences we don´t have… we listen to almost everything and with great pleasure, and that comprises Toto, Whitesnake, Giant, Europe, Eagles, Guns N Roses, Michael Jackson…and many others. |
| How many albums have you released? |
Our debut album was released in the Spring of 2008. It was very well received among critics and fans around the world. A special-edition of the album has been released in Japan including a bonus track, "Stay". The contribution from Melodifestivalen (Swedish Eurovision Song Contest), "1000 Miles" has also been released as a single, as well as the follow up single "Keep on Dreaming". Our second album entitled "Freedom Rock" was released during 2010 in Japan and Europe. |
| Tell us something about the second album "Freedom Rock". Where did that title come from? |
Before this album we have never found a really good way to describe our music, but when we were recording this album, one of the producers just said it. "This is Freedom Rock". And it was so spot on. We want to give people a feeling of freedom, hope and joy through our music, so we think that Freedom Rock is the perfect name for this album. |
| Are you involved in any political or social matters? |
Our songs aren´t exactly political, even if our themes often touch on how it is being a young person today. This could perhaps be called a reflection of some kind of social consciousness or awareness, without it sounding too pretentious, we hope. Most of all, we believe in the power of rock n´roll. What we guys in the band stand for politically is probably very well spread among the individuals. |
| What's up with the love for airplanes? |
We find something beautiful in airplanes. There is something magical with airplanes, especially when landing in the sunset. |
| It seems like you gig and tour a lot, how come? |
What we love more than anything is to play live in front of an enthusiastic audience. We try to do that as much as we can. And through the years, we have played everything between a tiny pizza parlour to gigantic festival stages, so it´s close to the truth saying that “we have seen a million faces and we´ve rocked them all” to borrow a nice phrase from Bon Jovi. |
| You've been on a European tour with Edguy, and you are just about to go on your second European tour. How does that feel? |
Totally amazing! This has been the dream all along, to live on the road, and it has truly been a dream coming true. We belong on the road! |
| You've also played the famous Loud Park festival in Japan. How was that? |
Wow, Japan was truly amazing. To play in Japan has always been a dream for us, and it was a dream come true. What a great and inspiring country, and what a crowd! We played fairly early in the afternoon, but the arena was packed with people. Talk about dedication! |
| So finally, what does your band name H.E.A.T stand for? |
That will remain our little secret yet for a while. We have decided not to reveal it in the near future, sorry ´bout that! |
